Senator Sununu stood with the lobbyists for the big oil companies

Senator John Sununu did New Hampshire retirees and seniors a great disservice with his December 13 decision, a vote to block the Clean Renewable Energy and Conservation Act. He apparently cares more about the oil companies maintaining their record setting profits than the economic well being of his NH constituency. Seniors and retirees on fixed incomes, and that is most of us, are struggling more than ever with $3.00 per gallon home heating oil to keep our homes warm this winter; we are struggling also to put $3.00+ per gallon gasoline in our cars so we can get to the supermarket and our doctor's office.

It seems to us that Senator Sununu stood with the lobbyists for the big oil companies instead of with Granite State seniors. At a time when prescription drugs (with its infamous Plan D "doughnut hole" increasing in size) and health care costs along with Medicare premiums and deductibles are going up, Senator Sununu certainly has some truly and cruelly misguided priorities.

If capitalism is fair then unionism must be. If men have a right to capitalize their ideas and the resources of their country, then that implies the right of men to capitalize their labor.
