Leo Hickcox
Leo Keyes Hickox, 67, of Marlborough, N.H., died April 2, 2010, in Ridgeland, S.C., as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born on May 2, 1942, in Hartford, Conn., the son of Douglas and Ruth (Bane) Hickox. He graduated from Manchester High School in Manchester, Conn., with the class of 1960. At about the age of 20 he moved to Marlborough, N.H. He went on to attend trade schools getting certifications in automotive mechanics and later as a master electrician. He worked in construction for 30 plus years with the IBEW LOCAL No. 490 electricians union at such job sites as the then under construction Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Plant and more recently Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. Most recently, in his retirement, he was regularly found working in his home town at the Marlborough Recycling and Transfer Center. He married Jeanie M. Ramsey on Oct. 23, 1965, spending the next 44 plus years together. Mr. Hickox was a life member of the National Rifle Association and a member of the Connecticut River Sportsman"s Club in Swanzey, N.H. He enjoyed camping with his family, and was a true backyard mechanic to many of his friends and family, fixing nearly anything that was brought by. He was also a NASCAR fan, recently supporting No. 16 Greg Biffle. Mr. Hickox is survived by his wife, Jeanie; his son, Aaron Hickox and his wife Nancy of Jaffrey, N.H; two daughters, Cynthia and her husband Scott R. Stone of Harrisville, and Heather Hector of Jaffrey, N.H; five grandchildren, Nikole Stone, Jocelyn Stone, and Jakob Stone of Harrisville, N.H., and Bethany Hector and Bradley Hector of Jaffrey, N.H.; a brother, D. Wayne Hickox of St Augustine, Fla., and a step-sister, Carol Olander of Windsor, Conn. Graveside services for Mr. Hickox will be held at the Meeting House Cemetery on Frost Hill Road in Marlborough, Saturday at noon. All are welcome. There will be no calling hours. The family requests that donations be made in Mr. Hickox"s name to the Marl-Harris Ambulance, P.O. Box 399, Marlborough, NH 03455. The Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 33 Marlboro St., Keene, N.H., is in charge of the arrangements.
